Terms of Service
The agreement between you and Informed Investing for your use of Informed Trader.
Last updated 26 September 2026
1. Who we are
Informed Trader (the Service) is operated by Informed Investing, ABN 86 561 347 081 (we, us, our). You can reach us at [email protected].
By creating an account or using the Service you agree to these terms. If you do not agree to them, do not use the Service.
2. What the Service is
The Service computes technical indicators from historical price data, retrieves comparable past setups, and asks a language model to write a structured commentary constrained to a fixed schema. It scores its own past commentary against the price bars that followed. Its purpose is research, information and education.
The indicators are deterministic arithmetic. The commentary is generated text. Neither is a forecast, and the presence of a suggested entry, stop or target does not make an output a recommendation — those are the levels a piece of analysis refers to, published so that the analysis can be checked rather than taken on trust.
The Service also offers a valuation calculator, which fills in figures from companies’ public SEC filings and lets you change every assumption, and an optional Portfolio Advisor, which shows a general starting split between cash, defensive and growth holdings for a risk profile you choose. Both are calculations over the inputs shown, and neither is a recommendation.
If you choose to watch a valuation, the Service compares each daily closing price with the value your own assumptions produce, and can notify you when the close reaches the levels you chose. It checks closing prices only, never prices during trading. The value is not a price target, and a notification is not a recommendation to buy or sell.
3. Not financial advice
Nothing in the Service is financial, investment, trading, tax, legal or accounting advice. We do not hold an Australian Financial Services Licence and we do not provide personal advice.
- The Service knows nothing about your objectives, your financial situation or your needs, and does not take them into account.
- Nothing produced by the Service is an offer, solicitation or recommendation to buy, sell or hold any financial product.
- Past performance, including the Service's own scored track record, is not an indicator of future performance.
- You are solely responsible for your own decisions, and you should consider obtaining advice from a licensed financial adviser before acting on anything you read here.
4. No order path
The Service cannot place, modify or cancel an order. This is structural rather than a setting: there is no order-execution capability in the product to enable. Where you connect a broker (clause 8), that connection is read-only.
5. Eligibility and your account
You must be at least 18 years old and able to form a binding contract. Accounts are currently created by invitation. You agree to provide an accurate email address, to keep your credentials secure, and to tell us promptly if you believe your account has been accessed by someone else. You are responsible for activity under your account.
Accounts are personal. Do not share your account with anyone else or create accounts on behalf of others without our agreement.
6. Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- scrape, crawl or bulk-extract content, or access the Service other than through the interfaces we provide;
- redistribute, resell or publish market data or generated analysis obtained through the Service;
- circumvent quotas, rate limits or access controls, including the limits that protect a shared market-data budget from being consumed by one account;
- reverse engineer, decompile or attempt to derive the underlying models or prompts;
- interfere with the Service's operation or security, or use it for anything unlawful.
7. Market data and third-party content
Price data, company names and news headlines come from third parties. We do not control them and do not warrant that they are accurate, complete, current or uninterrupted.
Much of what the Service shows is derived from daily closing prices rather than live quotes, and is labelled with the trading date it came from. Figures may be delayed, revised or wrong. Where a figure names the bar it was computed from, that date is the honest description of its age — treat it as such.
8. Optional broker connection
You may choose to connect a brokerage account. If you do:
- the connection is read-only, and a grant that includes a write permission is refused rather than stored;
- we use it only for market data and, where you consent separately, your holdings and watchlists;
- we never place, modify or cancel orders through it;
- you can disconnect it at any time, and doing so revokes our access.
Your relationship with your broker is governed by your agreement with them, not by these terms.
9. Availability and changes
The Service is under active development and is provided on an as-is, as-available basis. We may change, suspend or withdraw features, and we do not guarantee uptime, continuity of any particular feature, or that analysis will be generated within any timeframe.
10. Fees
The Service is currently provided without charge and we take no payment details. Access tiers are set by us. We may introduce paid plans in future; if we do, we will give you notice and you will not be charged without agreeing to it first.
11. Intellectual property
The Service, including its software, design, written content and generated analysis, belongs to us or our licensors. We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to use it for your own research. Content you supply — your watchlist, for instance — remains yours, and you grant us only the licence needed to operate the Service for you.
12. Disclaimers and liability
Nothing in these terms excludes, restricts or modifies any guarantee, right or remedy you have under the Australian Consumer Law or any other law that cannot lawfully be excluded. If you are a consumer under that law, you have guarantees that these terms cannot take away.
Subject to that, and to the maximum extent permitted by law: the Service is provided without warranties of any kind; we are not liable for any trading or investment loss, loss of profit, loss of opportunity, or indirect or consequential loss arising from your use of the Service; and where our liability can be limited, it is limited to resupplying the Service or paying the cost of having it resupplied — which, while the Service is provided free of charge, may be nil.
13. Suspension and termination
You may stop using the Service and ask us to close your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate access if you breach these terms, if we are required to by law, or if we discontinue the Service. Clauses which by their nature should survive termination — including 3, 11, 12 and 16 — do so.
14. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. If a change is material we will give reasonable notice, by email or in the Service. Continuing to use the Service after a change takes effect means you accept the updated terms. The "last updated" date above always reflects the current version.
15. Privacy
Our Privacy Policy explains what personal information we collect and how we handle it. It forms part of these terms.
16. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of Queensland, Australia. You and we submit to the non-exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Queensland and the courts able to hear appeals from them.
